These days I’m really enjoying training. Everyone is very invested in bettering their boxing skills. In the past two weeks I have watched several recreational and competitive boxers have skill breakthroughs.
Looking back at the trajectory toward all their improvement, I noticed several similar traits.
1. A high level of interest when the skill was unreachable
2. Consistent repetition while working toward the skill
3. An open dialogue when receiving feedback
4. An ability to ask questions to understand all aspects of the skill desired
5. Unwavering focus
6. An ability to have fun
It didn’t matter how many times it took them repeating the skill, it didn’t matter how many times they “failed” at the skill, each and every boxer just cared about what they wanted to achieve and they were rewarded!
Thank you all for your dedication to learning boxing in the gym and learning in life. You make the Commitment Board in the gym alive and you make my job a blast!
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
