It’s time to fight

In about 4 hours, boxer Jen Hamann will be doing her thing in the ring.  Here’s a little look into the behind the scenes on match day.

We woke up at 4:30am to check weight as official weigh ins were scheduled for 7am sharp.  This morning we were a little over, so we headed down to the gym to get a little sweat out before weighing.  Weigh ins at Nationals start promptly and any error in time can cost you a disqualification.  After weigh ins, the name of the game is hydration, fueling and rest.

After some rest, we were fortunate to watch fellow Seattle Boxers, Queen Underwood and Justin Dampac in the earlier session.  Queen took care of business, getting the win and advanced to the next round. Justin got his first taste of what it’s like to box at Nationals and came up a little short by losing a decision.  Congratulations to Justin and Coach Bo Villacis on their good work!  Now it’s time to chill out and focus on the task at hand.

We will wrap hands and head to the fights about 5:00pm so Jen is warmed up and ready to go.  You can watch the fight live streaming if you go to http://www.usaboxing.org and purchase a package.  You can also tune into facebook page, Arcaro Boxing to receive regular updates.

Signing off for now!
